Transform the nostalgic flavors of caramel apples into these bite-sized delights. Crispy, golden wontons are filled with a sweet, spiced apple mixture and paired with a luscious caramel dipping sauce. Perfect for desserts, snacks, or special gatherings, these wontons are quick to make, especially with an air fryer!

Ingredients

For the Wontons:

  • 1 cup apple pie filling (chopped)
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • ½ cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • Cooking spray (as needed)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

For the Caramel Dipping Sauce:

  • ½ cup caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt (to taste)

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped apple pie filling, caramel sauce, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and set aside.

2. Assemble the Wontons

  1. Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean, flat surface.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Brush the edges of each wonton wrapper with beaten egg to help seal.
  4. Fold the wrappers diagonally to form triangles, pressing the edges tightly to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets.

3. Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.

4. Cook the Wontons

  1. Lightly spray the assembled wontons with cooking spray for crispness.
  2. Arrange the wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
  3. Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

5. Make the Caramel Dipping Sauce

  1. Warm the caramel sauce in a small saucepan over low heat.
  2. Stir in heavy cream and a pinch of salt, adjusting the flavor to taste.
  3. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.

6. Serve and Garnish

  1. Allow the wontons to cool slightly before serving.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar for an elegant presentation.
  3. Serve with warm caramel dipping sauce on the side and enjoy!
