Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup pickles, diced
  • 1/4 cup bell peppers, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

Wraps and Cooking

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing, optional)

Dipping Sauce Options

  • Ranch dressing
  • Honey mustard
  • Spicy ketchup
  • Barbecue sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
    • Drain excess fat and add onions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
    • Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese, mustard, ketchup, pickles, and optional bell peppers.
  • Assemble the Egg Rolls
    • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape.
    • Place a heaping tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center.
    • Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly toward the top corner. Seal the edge with water or beaten egg.
  • Fry the Egg Rolls
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fry egg rolls in batches, turning occasionally, for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve
    • Arrange egg rolls on a platter and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the egg rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • To freeze, assemble the egg rolls and freeze them uncooked. Fry directly from frozen when ready.
  • Customize the filling with additions like cooked bacon, jalapeños, or mushrooms.
