Description

Craving bakery-style maple bars? These Fast and Fluffy Maple Bars are the perfect treat—light, airy, and covered in a rich maple glaze. With no yeast required and a quick preparation time, they’re a sweet indulgence you can easily whip up for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 16 oz (1 tube) buttermilk-style biscuit dough
  • 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Maple Glaze:

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 5 tablespoons salted butter
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon maple extract
  • 1 3/4 cups confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Maple Glaze:
    • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and milk over medium-high heat. Whisk continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
    • Whisk in the corn syrup and maple extract, then remove from heat.
    • Pour the mixture over the confectioners sugar in a mixing bowl and whisk until fully incorporated. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat until the temperature reaches 340°F to 350°F. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
  3. Prepare the Dough:
    • Open the biscuit dough tube and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit with your hands or a rolling pin to create an elongated oval shape.
  4. Fry the Dough:
    • Carefully place two or three flattened biscuits into the hot oil. Fry each side for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, or until light golden brown.
    • Remove the fried bars and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  5. Glaze the Maple Bars:
    • Stir the maple glaze to ensure it’s smooth and pourable. If it thickens too much, warm it slightly.
    • Pour the glaze over each fried bar, ensuring full coverage. Allow the glaze to set before serving.

Notes

  • Monitor Oil Temperature: Keep the oil between 340°F and 350°F for even frying. Too hot, and the bars will burn; too cool, and they’ll absorb excess oil.
  • Work Quickly with the Glaze: The glaze can thicken as it cools. Reheat gently if needed.
  • Customize Your Toppings: Add chopped nuts, coconut flakes, or a drizzle of chocolate for extra flair.
