- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Ground Beef:
- Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
- Remove the beef and set aside, reserving 1 tablespoon of grease in the pan.
2. Sauté the Vegetables:
- Add diced onion, carrot, and celery to the saucepan.
- Cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.
3. Build the Flavor Base:
- Stir in chopped garlic, thyme, rosemary, smoked paprika, and tomato paste.
- Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
4. Assemble the Soup:
- Pour in beef broth and diced tomatoes.
- Add the browned beef, pearl barley, bay leaves, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and fish sauce.
- Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the barley is tender.
5. Final Touches:
- Remove and discard bay leaves.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
