- 4 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks

- 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream (adjust as needed for consistency)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder (optional)

- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (optional, for topping)

Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot. Cover with cold, salted water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook for 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- Mash the Potatoes:
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them steam for 1–2 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Mash the potatoes using a masher or ricer until smooth.
- Mix in the softened butter, cream cheese, sour cream, and milk. Stir until creamy and well combined.
- Add garlic powder (if using), salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Assemble the Dish:
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to the prepared baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
- Dot the top with small pieces of butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Bake:
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crisp.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Let the dish cool for 5 minutes before serving.
