- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 12 cookies)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tbsp cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2–4 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- Warm the milk to about 110°F (45°C). Stir in the yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, mix the softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Crush the Oreo cookies into small pieces using a food processor or rolling pin.
- Roll and Fill the Dough:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into an 18×12-inch rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies over the filling.
- Roll and Slice:
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log.
- Slice the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss.
- Arrange the slices in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between them to rise.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the Cream Cheese Icing:
- Beat together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the icing reaches your desired consistency.
- Ice and Serve:
- Drizzle or spread the cream cheese icing over the warm rolls.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the gooey, Oreo-filled goodness!
